Re: Intimidated by long hair?
Mon, March 24, 2008 - 9:52 PMI've felt and observed responses of awe, admiration, shock, indimidation (fear)? and competitive aggressiveness (hostility) by various people, the men seem appreciative and a little intimidated, and some women feel threatened by overt sensuality, I guess soft, natural hair falls in that catagory...All these responses intrigue me...I usually wear my hair in a bun, but when it's loose, I get all sorts of attention. Oh, and in an office environment, women tend to suggest that long-haired women hack off our locks..I've never grown accustomed to hearing that from others.
Personally I love to see others with very long or unusual hairstyles and I like to compliment women with very long,healthy-looking hair. -

Tue, March 25, 2008 - 3:51 PMI've never had any intimidated responses, but I have had a little bit of prejudice from within my own family. My mother does NOT like people who try and grow their hair out as long as possible as she says we are "vain" and that it is silly and frivolous to have anything below the shoulderblades. I also have a number of classmates who can't understand why I'd want long hair. Well, why do they want short hair? -

Re: Intimidated by long hair?
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 8:20 AMi think that is a great topic, and yes i know people are, i sense it. first my hair is my one favorite features,I'm very vein about it, and i swear i'm not the same person without it. i know cuz they cut it off when i was at the airforce academy during basic training. My personalty didnt return to full force till it grew back a few years later. It stays between my mid back and shoulders usually. I find my self putting it up to tone myslef done and blend in, or turn off the lights so to say. If i want to be seen and have my presence felt, it comes down. I live in hawaii, and your hair (male and female) is considred a source of mana (hawaiian for power/stregnth). To me that is eaxctly what it is. I spend a lot of effort taking care of it because of this. I think if your hair gives you mana and it puts off a feeling of stregnth and power, then it does probably intimidate others. I certainly use it for this... to stand my ground. I mean come on a lion wouldnt seem the same without its mane...hair is power. I know thats why they make women keep their hair up in some countrys such as India as well. Theres definetly something to it. I think the most i ever noticed was when i was in spain, the spanish really like long blonde hair for one. and I found that it intimidated the girls there very much and attracted the men with a since of awe.
