Hi there!
I'm new to this tribe, always looking for more support for continuing to grow out my hair (and entertainment to keep me from getting bored with waiting. :D )
My hair is about an inch past bra-strap length in the back. My goal (for now) is waist length, where I think I'll keep it for a while, while I trim back some of the layers and even things up. I don't have much damage, just a few splits here and there - I henna once every two or three months and otherwise do nothing color/stylewise. I usually leave my hair in a braid or bun with a little oil on the ends to keep it protected during the day.
I have a question for you all: are any of you on the longhaircommunity.com website? I tried to sign up several days ago and received the email confirmation, so I went back to "activate" my account and it said I'd be placed in the queue for the moderators to activate. But I haven't heard anything. I dropped a line to the "contact us" folks and haven't heard back from them, either. Any idea what's going on? I can't post new threads or respond to threads there until my account has been activated by a moderator, but they seem to all be ignoring me... :(
Thanks all!

Re: Long Hair Community Members?
Wed, November 28, 2007 - 5:12 AMHi Amara, your hair sounds beautiful! I'm sad b/c I chopped my bra-length locks over the summer in a fit of course...... Sooo now it' sjust past the shoulders.... Hey, patience is a virtue hmm :p
I had the same issue with thelonghaircommunity.com and I actually attempted to register this summer, it would seem in order to join u must submit to some rediculous song and dance. If you find out what it is let me know, before I go all scissor happy on my beloved hair again. ; ) -

Re: Long Hair Community Members?
Mon, January 21, 2008 - 12:11 PMI'm at waist length for now and am going to be able to sit on my hair (so past my ass a bit.) What is the effect of henna on hair--is it bad for it like dyes are or does it make any difference? I keep considering doing that once in a while, just for the hell of it since it isn't permanent. Thought I'd ask since you said that you hennaed it once in a while. Cheers!

Re: Long Hair Community Members?
Wed, January 30, 2008 - 11:54 PMSome of the advice there is good (I like the hair styling articles, hair toys, product reviews, etc), some of the members have "interesting" ideas, and a few are hysterical (and not in a good way). I really didn't feel welcome there, but your experience with it may vary. I guess they are offline right now though.
This tribe is much more friendly.
Anyway, good luck with your hair goal (are you there yet?). I just cut my hair to waist length last month because I broke both of my arms (I know both arms, ugh!!!!) and couldn't take care of it at hip length--it was getting too ratty looking. I like my natural hair color, but I wonder if (neutral) henna might make it more manageable?
