So nice to finally find a group of people who love their hair long like I do! Everyone I know has fairly short hair,
and I sometimes find myself wondering if maybe I should cut my hair off and turn it into a more modern, "edgy"
shorter style like everyone else has. My hair is finally how I have always dreamed of having it, and I know that if
I were to cut it, even a little bit, I would end up regretting it. The problem is I am bored with not being able to come
up with any really cute styles, and I wondered how some of you wear your long hair? I wear mine in either a bun
or a ponytail 90% of the time just because it gets in the way otherwise, and only wear it down when I go out, which
is rare. I love up-dos, and would like to learn some cute up-do styles. Any ideas?

I'm new to this tribe, always looking for more support for continuing to grow out my hair (and entertainment to keep me from getting bored with waiting. :D )

My hair is about an inch past bra-strap length in the back. My goal (for now) is waist length, where I think I'll keep it for a while, while I trim back some of the layers and even things up. I don't have much damage, just a few splits here and there - I henna once every two or three months and otherwise do nothing color/stylewise. I usually leave my hair in a braid or bun with a little oil on the ends to keep it protected during the day.

I have a question for you all: are any of you on the longhaircommunity.com website? I tried to sign up several days ago and received the email confirmation, so I went back to "activate" my account and it said I'd be placed in the queue for the moderators to activate. But I haven't heard anything. I dropped a line to the "contact us" folks and haven't heard back from them, either. Any idea what's going on? I can't post new threads or respond to threads there until my account has been activated by a moderator, but they seem to all be ignoring me... :(

Thanks all!

Am new here. Name's Arathi. Am trying to grow my hair long. Right now, I am at a very awkward stage where my hair is less than shoulder length! But I have very high hopes that I can grow it down till my waist. No clue if that is even possible since none of the women in my family have bothered to grow it out that long! :(

Well, hi to everyone. And thanks Rosered, I read your post with tips on how to grow long hair. Am gonna make a trip to Sally Beauty supply this Saturday if I can, and will look for shampoos without sulfates and some hair vitamins too! :) Thanks. Might even get myself a satin pillowcase although I have no clue where to get one!

I go to Supercuts usually and they are not good at getting rid of split ends. My hair is all one length, slightly wavy (not all over, something that drives me MAD) and is almost long enough to sit on. I don't want to cut any more than a few inches off. I'd love to change the color or add curls or waves to it but there are two problems I have.

1) Anything I do curl wise is going to cost an arm and a leg, maybe even a few toes. Coloring at home with the help of a friend is doable but this leads me to problem 2
2) I am a HUGE chicken shit when it comes to changing my hair. I am so worried that what ever I do will look bad, come out wrong or just plain suck.

Now onto the questions. How well does that temporary wash out after X number of showers hair color work? Does the color end up being the same shade as the permanent stuff? If you either don't like the color or just want it gone can you wash it X number of times right in a row and have it be gone? Or does it have to slowly fade and look all kinds of dorky until it's out?

If anyone knows of a temporary way to curl your hair to give it a test run please let me know!

Just smudge on and massage in at least a pint of plain yoghurt into hair and then wrap in towel for at least an hour and then wash off using regular shampoo. I tried it. It is very nice.
